What do I do as a System Designer? If I had a reliably marketable answer, I would’ve led with that. Truth is, I’m still figuring it out. Here’s what I’ve got so far:
It all started because I wanted to save time. When I began Hyperspace Tutors, I found it far too tedious to create invoices by hand. But I also didn’t like the format of invoicing tools available online.
So, I decided to make my own. I had to overcome an innate fear of coding (maybe that’s why I’m not a real scientist…), but needs must, so I taught myself some javascript, some Google Sheets, and voila: automatic invoicing and hours of my life back.
When I co-created the telephonic epic Lennox Mutual, I again found myself with a predicament: how to reliably track a caller’s serialized, interactive, custom-curated experience over many phone calls, months, and ticket purchases in a format accessible, digestible, and actionable by a performer on the fly?
I wish I could tell you how exactly I did it, but hey – NDAs. Suffice to say, I’ve become very adept at coming up with new and exciting ways to reimagine the limits of corporate-facing web tools to serve creative endeavors.
Now, I am particularly intrigued by any opportunity to further explore simple solutions to complex problems, be it an innovative piece of art, a small business in need of creative, low-cost streamlining, or (better yet) something new entirely.
Oh, along the way I’ve also built some websites. This is one of them. I could do yours, too, if you want.
Any which way...
